BIO '97 Conference, Houston, 9-12 June
Background
The annual BIO meeting is the major showcase for the Biotechnology Industry
Organisation (BIO). It is exceptionally well patronised by the US biotech
fraternity and, increasingly, by the non US biotech community. While the
major focus of the meeting is the business side of biotech, the program
covers a variety of subjects including new scientific directions, finance,
corporate communication, legal aspects, education and more.

Medline Full Free Access for Searching
On 26 June, US Vice President Gore announced that the National Library of
Medicine would provide free access to MEDLINE^r which is a database
containing the world's most extensive collection of published medical
information. Previously this service had only been available for a fee.
