Contaminación del Río Cazones, Veracruz, México Durante el Periodo Octubre 2004 - Junio 2005 Galindo, José Angel; Vázquez-Castán, Laura; Cruz-Lucas, Miguel Angel; López-Ortega, Marisela & Ángel, Pablo San Martín del Resumen Los estudios realizados sobre la Contaminación del Río Cazones son pocos y pobres de información. Por tal motivo el objetivo principal de este trabajo de investigación fue evaluar el grado de contaminación, analizando los contaminantes microbiológicos en aguas, y metales pesados en sedimentos. Los parámetros fisicoquímicos y biológicos analizados en el presente trabajo fueron: conductividad, salinidad y sólidos totales con un conductímetro, pH con un potenciómetro, cloruros por el método de Mohr, alcalinidad por el método volumétrico, dureza por medio del EDTA, coliformes totales y fecales por la técnica de NMP/100 ml, mesófilos por cuenta en placa, grasas y aceites por método soxhlet y metales pesados por absorción atómica. El tramo muestreado del río fue comprendido entre la Petroquímica Escolín e Infonavit Gaviotas. Para análisis de agua se hicieron 9 muestreos a partir del mes de octubre, efectuando una cada mes en cada zona de muestreo y 3 muestreos para sedimentos efectuando uno en octubre, en enero y el último en mayo, cubriendo de esta manera tres estaciones anuales (otoño, invierno y primavera). Según la normatividad, los parámetros biológicos encontrados en el agua del río Cazones están dentro de los límites máximos permisibles y sólo en algunas ocasiones son rebasados, en cuanto a sedimentos, las grasas y aceites están por encima de los límites, mientras que los metales están dentro de los rangos permitidos (NOM-001-ECOL-1996 y NOM-004-SEMARNAT-2002). Pollution of Cazones River, Veracruz, México During October 2004 - June 2005 Season Galindo, José Angel; Vázquez-Castán, Laura; Cruz-Lucas, Miguel Angel; López-Ortega, Marisela & Ángel, Pablo San Martín del Abstract There are few studies about the pollution in the Cazones River. For this reason the main objective of this research is to evaluate the pollution levels of the river taking into consideration microbiological pollutants in water, and heavy metals in sediments. The following physicochemical and biological parameters were taken: conductivity, salinity, SDT; pH; chloride by Mohr method; alkalinity for the volumetric method; water hardness by means of the EDTA; total and fecal coliform bacteria for the technique of MNP/100 ml; mesofilos; fatty and oils by the Soxhlet method and heavy metals by atomic absorption. We sampled the river in the area located between the refinery "Escolin" and the residential houses known as "Infonavit Gaviotas". We took 9 samples for water analyses that were taken monthly from October to June, and 3 samples for sediments (autumn, winter, and spring). The biological parameters in the water do not exceed the limits established by Mexican regulations. The samples taken from the sediments showed that fats and oils exceed the limits permitted by the law, and heavy metals do not exceeded the limits established by the Mexican law (NOM-001-ECOL-1996 y NOM-004-SEMARNAT-2002).
