Domínguez Resumen Este estudio fenomenológico con 22 padres y madres de niños (as) con leucemia tuvo como objetivo conocer los sentimientos, las expectativas y las preocupaciones cotidianas de los padres y las madres. Inicialmente, padres y madres sintieron que el cáncer era una catástrofe que ponía fin a su mundo pero poco a poco aprendieron a vivir con una enfermedad "conocida pero traicionera". La experiencia con la enfermedad fue diferente para padres y madres. Las relaciones entre padres y madres fueron afectadas tanto positiva como negativamente por la enfermedad. Domínguez Abstract This interpretive study with 22 parents of leukemia children had the purpose of understanding the parents' everyday emotions, expectations, and concerns. Initially, parents understood the illness as disaster that ended their world but slowly the parents learned to live with a "known but treacherous" illness. There were differences in the lived experience for fathers and mothers. The relationships between fathers and mothers were affected in a positive and negative way by the illness experience.
