 en Proptosis and fungal sinusitis caused by Bipolaris hawaiiensis check for this species in other resources in a pediatric patient

Abstract

We report a case of phaeohyphomycosis by Bipolaris hawaiiensis check for this species in other resources . A 10 years old patient is presented with runny nose and nasal congestion of 2 years of evolution, headache, facial pain and right eye proptosis of 2 months. Endoscopic nose sinus surgery and biopsies were performed. A dematiaceous fungus with dark septate hyphae and conidiophores were found in mycological examinations. The isolate was identified micro and macro morphologically as Bipolaris hawaiiensis. The patient was successfully treated with Voriconazole for three months

Resumen

Se reporta un caso de Feohifomicosis por Bipolaris hawaiiensis check for this species in other resources . La paciente de 10 años de edad presentó rinorrea y congestión nasal, de 2 años de evolución, cefalea, dolor facial y proptosis de ojo derecho de 2 meses. Se lleva a cirugía y realiza cirugía endoscópica de nariz y de senos paranasales más biopsias. Un hongo dematiáceo de hifas septadas oscuras y conidióforos tortuosos, fueron vistos en los exámenes micológicos. El aislamiento fue identificado micro, macromorfológicamente como Bipolaris hawaiiensis. La paciente fue tratada exitosamente con Voriconazol por tres meses.
