Abstract

The cellular DNA contents of the yellow pond turtle ( Mauremys mutica check for this species in other resources ) and its two populations were studied by using a flow cytometer with the DNA of chicken red blood cells (2.5 pg/2c) as a standard. The DNA content of the turtle is 5.16±0.29 pg/2c (n=60).The DNA content of southern population is 5.19±0.30 pg/2c (n=30) and that of northern population is 5.14±0.30 pg /2c (n=30),and there is no difference between southern and northern populations of M.Mutica (t=0.6847,df=58,P>0.05).
