Considering the importance of fertilization on the seeds production, an experiment was set up to evaluate the effect of nitrogen fertilization on the production and seed quality of
Urochloa decumbens
; it was developed at a farm near Monay, Trujillo State.The parcels of land ( 4 x 5 m) received 100 kg/ha of the fertilizer 14:14:14, previous soil analissis, just before the beginning of the experiment. The experiment design was a complete randomly with four treatments and four repetitions. The treatments were four doses of urea (T
1 =0; T
2=200; T
3= 400 y T
4= 600 kg/ha), which was distributed in the =soil at the beginning of the flowering; 35 days after the seeds were harvested by hand, into paper bags and dried during 10 days. With adequate protection, were stored during 100 days. The factors studied were: production (kg/ha); weight of thousands seeds (g); purity (%) and germination (%). The results showed significant differences (P<0.01) for the factor production, the treatments with urea were higher than without it. Among the others factors there were no significant differences (P>0.05). It is possible to conclude that the nitrogen fertilization has a positive effect on seeds production of
