Estimativa Do Volume De Madeira Partindo Do Diâmetro Da Cepa Em Uma Área Explorada De Floresta Amazônica De Terra Firme Leite, Flávia Saltini & Rezende, Alba Valéria Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi estimar o volume de arvores de uma floresta tropical de terra firme, considerando apenas o diametro da cepa (d0) como variavel independente. A area de estudo esta localizada no municipio de Breu Branco, PA. Um total de 113 arvores com DAP ≥ 51 cm, pertencentes a diferentes especies e classes de diametro, foram cubadas rigorosamente. A cubagem rigorosa foi feita pelo metodo de Hohenadl, considerando a divisao do tronco comercial em dez secoes de comprimentos iguais e o calculo do volume de cada secao da tora foi feito pela formula de Smalian. Equacoes de volume foram ajustadas para estimar o volume comercial das arvores em funcao de d0 e tambem em funcao do DAP, para efeito de comparacao. Os resultados mostraram que d0 apresentou boa relacao com o volume comercial de arvores em floresta de terra firme, e pode ser utilizado no ajuste de modelos matematicos visando a estimar o volume comercial de arvores. Nao foi observada diferenca significativa entre os valores reais de volume comercial de arvores e os volumes estimados, gerados partindo de uma equacao linear ajustada em funcao de d0, demonstrando que e possivel obter com precisao, informacoes de volume partindo de d0. Estimate Of Wood Volume Departing From The Diameter At Stump Height In An Exploited Area In “Terra Firme” Amazon Forest Leite, Flávia Saltini & Rezende, Alba Valéria Abstract This research aimed to estimate the volume of trees of a "terra firme" tropical forest, considering only the diameter at stump height (d0), as independent variable. The area being studied is located in Breu Branco, Para. A total of 113 trees with DBH ≥ 51 cm, of different species and diameter classes, were selected to determine the observed cubic volume of the commercial trunk. The trees were rigorously cubed by the method of Hohenadl considering the division of the commercial trunk in ten sections of equals lengths, and the volume of each section of the trunk was determined by the Smalian formula. Equations were adjusted to estimate the commercial volume of the trees in function of d0 and in function of DBH, for comparisons. Results showed that d0 had a high correlation with the commercial volume of trees within the area of forest of "terra firme" and it can be used for the adjustment of mathematical models in order to estimate the commercial volume of trees. No significant difference between the observed and the estimated volume of trees - generated by the adjusted linear equation in function of d0 - was found.
