Museums and Anatomopathological Collections in Venezuela: Their present status. II Bracho Villalobos, Gustavo Adolfo; Tovar, José Rafael; Soto, Lila Rumenoff & de Suárez, Claudia B. Abstract Museums are permanent institutions, patrimony of the nations, whose basic objectives are: the conservation, investigation and diffusion of anatomical pieces with diverse pathologies, fruit of long dissections and descriptions. With the exhibition and education of the normal and pathological anatomy to the service of the Venezuelan society and possibly to the one of other countries, it is fulfilled a fundamental ethics. In the antiquity, the museums replaced the photography and other means of diffusion of the anatomical and pathologic aspects. The first museum organized in Venezuela was founded by the Br. Rafael Rangel in the Hospital Vargas of Caracas. At the moment the anatomical museums and still more in our country are little. They represent the effort and certainty of generations of investigators and organizers as well as a cost of the institutions that maintain them. At the moment, in Venezuela, they emphasize, of pathology′ museum" Dr. Gustavo Bracho Villalobos" of the red of museums of the University Center-Western Lisandro Alvarado in the State Lara and anatomical museum" Dr. Jesus Yerena" of the Anatomical Institute of the Central University of Venezuela. Also two museums of cardiovascular pathology exist: the museum of ASCARDIO and the one of the Institute of pathology "Dr. Jose Antonio Or′ Daly" of the Central University of Venezuela. Los museos y colecciones anatomopatológicas en Venezuela: Sus orígenes y actual existencia II Bracho Villalobos, Gustavo Adolfo; Tovar, José Rafael; Soto, Lila Rumenoff & de Suárez, Claudia B. Resumen Los museos anatómicos son instituciones permanentes, patrimonio de las naciones, cuyos objetivos básicos son: la conservación, investigación y difusión de piezas anatómicas con diversas patologías, fruto de largas disecciones y descripciones. Con la exhibición y enseñ anza de la anatomía normal y patológica al servicio de la sociedad venezolana y eventualmente a la de otros países, se cumple con una ética fundamental. En la antigüedad, los museos sustituyeron las fotografías y otros medios de difusión de los aspectos anatómicos y anatomopatológicos. El primer museo organizado en Venezuela fue fundado por el Br. Rafael Rangel en el Hospital Vargas de Caracas. Actualmente son escasos los museos anatómicos y aún más en nuestro país. Representan el esfuerzo y constancia de generaciones de investigadores y organizadores así como un costo de las instituciones que los mantienen. Actualmente, en Venezuela, destacan, el museo anatomopatológico" Dr. Gustavo Bracho Villalobos" de la red de museos de la Universidad Centro-Occidental Lisandro Alvarado en el Estado Lara y el museo anatómico" Dr. Jesús Yerena" del Instituto Anatómico de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. También existen dos museos de patología cardiovascular: el museo de ASCARDIO y el del Instituto Anatomopatológico "Dr. José Antonio O'Daly" de la Universidad Central de Venezuela.
