Aspectos Sociales y Económicos de los Productores de Palma Aceitera ( Elaeis Guinensis Jacq.) y su Relación con el Rendimiento en Fruta en el Estado Monagas, Venezuela, año 2000 Febres-Bolívar, Beatriz; Milano-Márquez, Wuillians & Méndez-Natera, Jesús Rafael Resumen Esta investigación se realizó con el objeto de describir y analizar aspectos sociales y económicos de los productores de palma aceitera y determinar su relación con el rendimiento obtenido en fruta. Para cumplir con estos objetivos se realizó un trabajo de campo de carácter descriptivo con una población constituida por 127 productores agrupados en empresas campesinas, 23 agrotécnicos, 27 productores campesinos y seis productores independientes. Para el estudio de las diferentes categorías se aplicó el muestreo estratificado con afijación proporcional. La información se recopiló mediante una encuesta estructurada y el análisis estadístico contempló la aplicación de la prueba de X2 para independencia (p ≤ 0,05) y comparación de porcentajes (p ≤ 0,05), además, se calculó el coeficiente de correlación lineal simple entre el rendimiento en fruta y un grupo de variables cuantitativas (p ≤ 0,10). De acuerdo con los resultados obtenidos no existe relación unidireccional entre los ingresos originados por el cultivo de la palma aceitera y las condiciones de vida del palmicultor, lo que se evidencia en el tipo y condiciones de la vivienda en que habitan, la falta o poca disponibilidad de medios de comunicación y transporte, el mecanismo empleado para abastecerse de alimento y el número de habitantes en cada hogar, así mismo, la dirección de la vivienda, la disponibilidad de aparatos electrodomésticos, la lectura de algún tipo de prensa, el lugar donde se recibe asistencia médica y la calidad de ésta constituyen el grupo de variables que resultaron significativas al relacionarlas con el rendimiento en fruta. Por otra parte, el consumo personal y la amortización de préstamos a la empresa Palmonagas están correlacionados signficativamente con el rendimiento en fruta, indicando que a medida que aumenta el rendimiento también aumentan las cantidades de dinero en estas dos orientaciones. Social and Economic Aspects of Farmers of Oil Palm ( Elaeis Guinensis Jacq.) and Their Relationship with Fruit Yield in the Monagas State, Venezuela, Year 2000 Febres-Bolívar, Beatriz; Milano-Márquez, Wuillians & Méndez-Natera, Jesús Rafael Abstract This research was carried out in order to describe and to analyze social and economic aspects of oil palm producers and to determine their relationship with the fruit yield. To fulfill these objectives, it was carried out a descriptive character field work with a population constituted by 127 farmers associated in rural enterprises, 23 agro-professional people, 27 rural farmers and 6 independent farmers. For the study of the different categories, the stratified sample with proportional affixation was applied. The information was gathered by means of a structured survey and the statistic analysis contemplated the application of X2 for independence (p ≤0.05) and comparison of percentages (p ≤ 0.05), also, the simple lineal correlation coefficient was calculated among the fruit yield and a set of quantitative variables (p ≤ 0.10). In accordance with the obtained results, one-way relationship didn't exist among the incomes originated for oil palm cultivation and the life conditions of the oil pal farmers and this was evidenced by the type and conditions of the housing that inhabit, the lack or little media available and social transportation, the mechanism used to be supplied of food and the number of inhabitants in each home, likewise, the housing address, the availability of electric-domestic equipments, the reading of some press type, the institution where medical care is received and the quality of this constitute the set of variables that were significant when relating them with the fruit yield. On the other hand, the personal consumption and the paying-off of loans to Palmonagas enterprise were significantly correlated with fruit yield, indicating that as increased yield, also increases the money quantities in these two variables.
